A Real ‘Nurse Hero’: First Nurse Nominated As Army Surgeon General

As you may have heard, Mosby’s Nursing Suite is on a search for the ‘Superheroes of Nursing‘, so when we saw this news about a real life ‘Nurse Hero’ last week, we knew we had to share:

Major General Patricia Horoho was nominated on Tuesday to be Army Surgeon General, which would make her the first woman to fill the role. Horoho previously commanded the Walter Reed Health Care System and currently commands the Army Nurse Corps. Horoho is a registered clinical trauma nurse who served at the Pentagon in September 2001; the American Red Cross and Nursing Spectrum later honored her as a “Nurse Hero” for caring for the wounded after terrorists crashed a Boeing 757 into the building (Brewin, Government Executive, 5/5).
