CE Webinar: Developing a Successful Workplace Violence Prevention Program

Continuing education contact hour (1) provided by Elsevier*   (View Recording Now)
CE Expiration: 10/14/2017

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2013, 80% of serious violent incidents reported in healthcare settings were caused by patient interactions. Other incidents were caused by visitors, coworkers, or other people. In US hospitals, most aggravated assaults happen in the emergency department. Did you know that some of the most commonly identified causes were: failures in communication; inadequate patient observation; lack of, or noncompliance with, policies addressing workplace violence prevention?

This webinar will present one organization’s journey to identify the challenges of maintaining a safe workplace environment and share lessons learned. The speaker will also provide insight and practical solutions for addressing and preventing workplace violence in an acute care setting.

Learning Outcomes:

  • List risk factors for violence in the acute care setting
  • Describe the barriers to maintaining a safe workplace environment
  • Identify effective strategies to address and prevent violence in the acute care setting
